“I hear strong, soulful vocals‐ much cooler than the radio is lately!”
– Kevin Bowe,
Twin Cities Grammy‐winning songwriter
“A great young guitar player has arrived. He can play fast but has enough soul to play "Key to the Highway" and sound like he means it.”
– Bruce McCabe,
(writer of Jonny Lang’s hit “Lie to Me”)
Following in the footsteps of some great blues pioneers before him, young guitar‐slinger Trent Romens is also stepping off their beaten path to blaze his own trail. With an electrifying stage presence and a deeply personal guitar‐playing style, he is winning over an impressive string of audiences. Starting out in the local scene when he was only 15, Trent has injected himself in to the community for the last 10 years performing with some of the Twin Cities’ most respected musicians including Wain McFarlane, Barbara LeShoure and Willie Murphy. Warming up for national touring acts such as Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jimmie Vaughan, Hippo Campus and Soul Asylum, Trent is gaining notoriety.
Trents new band, Calico Tango, is an effort to showcase his songwriting and ability to create an amazing live performance. Backed by a group of all-star Minneapolis musicians including John Wright on Bass (Galactic Cowboy Orchestra), Toby Lee Marshall on Hammond (Koch Marshall Trio), Alec Tackmann on Drums (Galactic Cowboy Orchestra), Brian Highhill on Trumpet (Pavielle, Sonny Knight) & Matty Harris on Saxophone (Baker London), this group is destined to move the crowd. Calico Tango’s new album is scheduled to be released August 10th.
